  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Cooking Steps:

  1. Cook pasta: Boil elbow macaroni in salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Add milk & cream: Slowly whisk in milk and heavy cream, cooking until slightly thickened.
  4. Melt the cheese: Reduce heat to low, then stir in cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Add garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  5. Combine pasta & sauce: Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly.
  6. Optional topping: Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs on top and broil for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
